- Helping Others
The good news of God's love in Jesus' ministry radiated out to all sorts of people in need. At St. Stephen's we participate in Christ's healing and servanthood ministry through:
Our Deacon Merle Smith's ministry as hospital chaplain
Our parish members volunteer and professional work with Hospice of Jasper County;
Through our parish's ongoing commitment to provide workers for local Habitat for Humanity projects.
Through our teams who take the bread and wine to shut-ins;
By our monthly writing of caring letters to those who need encouragement, prayer and support;
Our participation in delivering Meals on Wheels;
Our many hours of wrapping Christmas gifts that go to economically struggling families through the Manhattan Christmas Club;
By giving the annual interest money from our Giving and Growth Fund to important causes. Most recently, gifts were made to the Manhattan Christmas Club and our Companion Diocese of Swaziland's Mpaka School Building project.
