Worship and Music at St. Stephen's

Jesus spent regular time in prayer and left us the great legacy of celebrating His Risen presence with us in Worship and Holy Eucharist.

Our weekly worship times are:

8 a.m. Quiet Eucharist (September-May)

10 a.m. Musical Eucharist (September-May)

5 p.m. Wednesday Evening Prayer Service
(with light supper following on the third Wednesday of each month)

(June-August) 9 a.m. Musical Eucharist

Our worship is a friendly blend of ancient tradition and relevant preaching. People of all types and ages help to lead us in worship. We have dedicated, talented pianists and organists and two dedicated, small choirs.

Adult Choir
St. Stephen's Adult Choir is a dedicated group of parishioners who give of their time and talent to serve God by leading the congregational music on Sunday mornings and by offering up choral anthems from the rich heritage of Christian sacred music. The choir practices in the Sanctuary from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday nights (and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Sundays). From September through May, the choir sings at most 10 a.m. Sunday services, Some members chose to wear the traditional choir robes; others dress less formally and sit with their families during worship. Membership in our choir is open to anyone high school age and up. You do not have to be a member of St. Stephen's to sing in the choir. If you would like to sing with us, please drop in on a rehearsal night and see/hear what we're all about. Or call Phyllis Freeman (641-792-5440), or e-mail Barry Hurto (bhurto@pcpartner.net).

Youth Choir
In the rich tradition of St. Stephen's our Children's Choir performs at least once each month during the 10 a.m. service. Children from kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to sing with this spirited group.

Special Music
Throughout the year, our parishoners share their musical talents through solo and ensemble offerings during our 10 a.m. service. Some sing, others play piano, organ, flute, violin, drums, recorder, saxophone, and other instruments. Anyone willing to share his or her talents is invited to help us worship God through the wonder of music.

Altar Guild
The members of the St. Stephen's Altar Guild lovingly care for our altar linens, clergy vestments, communion bread and wine, flowers and special decorations. Learn more about the St. Stephen's Altar Guild.
